No. NFC cards are optional. You can generate your own QR code from your Tag My Link profile and print it, engrave it on a card, sticker, badge, or anywhere you like. NFC tags and pre-programmed cards are an upgrade path when you want a polished, tap-to-share experience.

NFC tap and QR sharing work without an active connection on your side. The recipient needs internet to view the profile.
